
MADERA, Calif. (FOX26) — The Madera Police Department has arrested a man connected to a shooting outside a hotel.
Officers responded to a report that shots were fired outside a hotel in Madera.
During the investigation, it was discovered that two men had gotten into an argument, which escalated to a gun being fired.
It was discovered that the shooter was 29-year-old Cosme Cervantes, who fled the scene after the shooting.
The Special Investigation Unit took over the case after discovering Cervantes’ violent criminal past.
The SIU was able to locate Cervantes in Madera and arrest him after he fled from the Detectives.
A search warrant was requested to search the home where he was hiding.
During the search, an assault rifle, an unregistered handgun, extended magazines, and ammunition were found.
Cervantes was booked into the Madera County Jail for attempted murder and several felony gun charges.
